Welch’s, in partnership with Scholastic, is offering Welch's Harvest Grants to support school garden programs. Two schools in every state will be selected to receive a grant of up to $1,000 in gardening supplies. The grant is open to K-8 classrooms in the US with a minimum of 15 students. Deadline for submission is February 6, 2010.

The Five-Star Restoration Matching Grants Program, an initiative of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, supports community-based wetland, riparian, and coastal habitat restoration projects throughout the United States. Grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 are provided to projects that build diverse partnerships and foster natural resource stewardship through education, outreach, and training activities. The application deadline is February 11, 2010.

The Five Star Restoration Program brings together students, conservation corps, other youth groups, citizen groups, corporations, landowners and government agencies to provide environmental education and training through projects that restore wetlands and streams. The program provides challenge grants, technical support and opportunities for information exchange to enable community-based restoration projects. Applications must be received by February 11, 2010.

Open Meadows Foundation is a grant-making organization for projects that are led by and benefit women and girls. The maximum award is $2,000. Only 501(c)3 organizations with an organizational budget no larger than $150,000 are eligible. The deadline for submission is February 15 and August 15 each year.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology invites organizations and educators to apply for its Celebrate Urban Birds project mini-grants. Mini-grants average $250 to $500 and help fund neighborhood events across North America. Organizations working with traditionally underserved communities are strongly urged to apply. Application deadline is February 15, 2010.

NOAA’s Office of Education is requesting applications for environmental literacy projects. Grant amounts will range from $200,000 - $1,250,000. Letters of Intent are required and are due February 16, 2010.

The Intel and Scholastic Schools of Distinction awards recognize K-12 schools in the U.S. that demonstrate excellence in implementing innovative, replicable programs supporting positive educational outcomes. Finalists, Winners and the Star Innovator will all receive a cash grant from the Intel Foundation. Finalists will receive a $2500 grant, Winners a $10,000 grant with the Star Innovator receiving a $25,000 grant. Application deadline is 5 PM on February 17, 2010.

The grant program will award six grants, totaling $60,000, to individuals, organizations, and schools across the United States that are making their communities a greener place to live. People can nominate green community projects and their leaders for a Green Heroes grant by submitting a photo and short essay about the project or person at the Green Works facebook page. Nominations deadline is February 18, 2010.

Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) Building Efficiency business unit, the global leader in providing energy efficiency solutions for buildings, announces its ninth annual Igniting Creative Energy (ICE) Challenge, where students throughout North America can win a trip to Washington, D.C., $1,000 for their school, or other prizes by submitting their energy ideas. All entries must be postmarked by February 19, 2010.

Project Orange Thumb® recipients will receive up to $1,000.00 in Fiskars® Garden Tools, t-shirts, and up to $1,000.00 for other materials such as plants, seeds, mulch, etc. Application deadline is February 19, 2010.

Environmental education benefits students - from increasing their understanding of how earth's resources and natural systems work, offering opportunities for hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning to providing practical information about how to succeed in the green economy. Classroom Earth wants to help support teachers around the country who want to make environmental education part of their curriculum. Teachers from all subject areas are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is Monday February 22, 2010.

Miley Cyrus is partnering with Youth Service America (YSA) to create Get Ur Good On, a social network that brings together youth to support each other in their mission to do "good" in their communities. To support this "good," YSA is offering Get Ur Good On Grants, supporting youth-led service initiatives on Global Youth Service Day, April 23-25, 2010. Application due February 22, 2010.

The goal of the BoatU.S. Foundation is to be the leader in boating safety and environmental education and outreach. Grants of up to $4,000 are provided for projects that reflect a unique and replicable way to reach boaters with upbeat safe and clean boating messages. The application deadline is February 28, 2010.

Syngenta is sponsoring the Syngenta IPM in School Gardens Grant to support educators using school gardens as a tool for teaching students about integrated pest management strategies in the garden and on farms. During 2010, four middle and/or high schools will receive grant packages valued at $1,250. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2010.

The Horace Mann Educators Corporation is offering $30,000 in scholarships for public and private school K-12 educators to take college courses. Scholarships are available in amounts of $5,000, $1,000, and $500. The application deadline is March 1, 2010.

DoSomething.org honors the nation’s best young world-changers, age 25 and under. Four nominees will receive $10,000 and one Grand Prize Winner will receive $100,000 towards their organization or cause. The nomination deadline is March 1, 2010.

By providing financial and technical assistance, EPA helps communities implement solutions to reduce releases of toxic pollutants and minimize people's exposure to them. The deadline to apply for a CARE grant is March 9, 2010.

The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has announced its Blue Water Project Leadership and community action Grants. Grants through the RBC Blue Water Project will focus on programs ensuring that watersheds, particularly those that are heavily affected by human use, continue to provide ecosystem services. Grants range from $1,000 up to $500,000. The next deadline for Leadership Grant applications is Friday, March 12, 2010.

PNY Technologies, Inc. is challenging high school seniors to conceive an Eco-friendly solution, product, or idea that will help to save the environment using PNY technology; whether it is at your home or school, in your community or even on a national level. Submissions will begin to be received on November 1, 2009. Final submissions must be received no later than March 15, 2010.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is calling for proposals from museums, museum service organizations, and universities for projects designed to enhance the professional development of museum staff. Applicants may request from $15,000 to $500,000 each for a grant extending up to three years. Application Deadline is March 15, 2010

EcoStar Grants are offered to local communities where Constellation Energy does business. One of Constellation Energy's enviornmental focus areas is education including workshops, seminars, training and/or public relations to inform and influence the public regarding environmental stewardship. Grant range up to $5,000 each. Organization must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit, with a Board of Directors. Application Deadline is March 16, 2010.

The Nature Hills Nursery Green America Awards recognize nonprofit organizations that submit a local environment community project that makes best use of the trees, bushes and shrubs that Nature Hills Nursery will award (Grand Prize $2,500 value). Deadline for submission is April 1, 2010.

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) strategically donates orchards where the harvest will best serve communities for generations, at places such as community gardens, public schools, city/state parks, low-income neighborhoods, Native American reservations, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries. In addition, "Fruit Tree 101" grants are available to public schools only. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Through Walmart Store and Sam’s Club Giving Programs, Walmart Stores and Sam’s Clubs can recommend grants of up to $5,000 to local nonprofit organizations. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
The USDA has programs throughout its operations that can assist farmers, help consumers access nutritious foods, and support rural community development. This page lists several programs and grants to assist those involved in local food systems, food and nutrition-related community development and farm to school programs.

Ittleson Foundation supports innovative pilot, model and demonstration projects that will help move individuals, communities, and organizations from environmental awareness to environmental activism by changing attitudes and behaviors. Initial letters of inquiry are due by April 1st or September 1st.

The Norcross Wildlife Foundation provides support to local grassroots organizations throughout the United States that work to protect wild land. Grants averaging $5,000 are primarily provided for program-related office and field equipment, and public education and outreach materials. Applications for both grants and loans may be submitted at any time.

The Walmart State Giving Program seeks to support organizations with programs that align with their mission to create opportunities so people can live better. The Foundation has four areas of focus: Education, Workforce Development / Economic Opportunity, Health & Wellness, and Environmental Sustainability. Minimum grants are $25,000. The submission deadlines are April 17 and September 18 each year.

Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. and Toyota USA Foundation Grants available. Grants support programs in education, environment, and safety. Organizations must be tax-exempt. Applications are accepted only on-line on a rolling basis.

Annie's offers a limited number of small grants to community gardens, school gardens and other educational programs that connect children directly to gardening. These funds can be used to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies. To apply visit Annie's webpage and fill out the online grant form. Grant submission are accepted throughout the year.

The Annenberg Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the following program areas: education and youth evelopment; arts, culture, and humanities; civic and community; animal services and the environment; and health and human services. Letters of inquiry that address the Foundation's interests are accepted throughout the year. The Foundation only considers organizations that are tax exempt.

The Ben & Jerry's Foundation offers competitive grants to not-for-profit, grassroots organizations throughout the United States which facilitate progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The Foundation will only consider proposals from grassroots, constituent-led organizations. Full grants range from $1,001 - $15,000 and throughout the year, the Ben & Jerry's Foundation may fund a small number of material grants for $1,000 or less. The application process to the Ben & Jerry's Foundation begins with an initial Letter of Interest, and if invited, is followed by a full proposal. Letters of Interest may be submitted at any time and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Jenny's Heroes community grant program provides grants of up to $25,000 each to fund projects that promise long-term community benefits. The program's focus is primarily on smaller communities where fundraising can be difficult.

The Project AWARE Foundation is committed to the preservation of the aquatic environment and its resources throughout the world through education, advocacy, and action. The Foundation provides grants for the conservation of both marine and freshwater underwater environments, with a focus on coral reefs, shark protection, sustainable fisheries, ecotourism, shoreline cleanups, and aquatic education for children. Grants range up to US $10,000. The application deadlines are March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15, annually.

K-12 teachers who develop or apply science, mathematics, and technology in their curriculum may qualify for a grant of up to $200 per individual request to supplement their learning program. Classroom grants may be used for demonstration kits and science supplies, math and science software, supplies for making flying objects, supplies for robotic programs, and other materials to help make science, mathematics, and technology come alive in the classroom. Grants will be considered on a quarterly basis in January, March, June, and September.

Reader's Digest Foundation "Make It Matter" Grants. Tell Reader's Digest how you or someone you know is giving back to your community, and the editors may select your story to appear in Reader's Digest's "Make It Matter" column or on ReadersDigest.com. Reader's Digest will promote your cause to our community of 38 million caring readers and award a $1,500 grant to a tax exempt organization in your name.

The NEA Foundation Student Achievement Grants are provided to improve students' academic achievement by engaging them in critical thinking and problem solving that deepen knowledge of standards-based subject matter. Grants include the Big Green Grant program for teaching green concepts. The maximum award is $5,000. Practicing U.S. public school teachers, public school education support professionals, and faculty and staff members at public institutions of higher education are eligible. Applications are reviewed three times per year: February 1st, June 6th, and October 15th.

This grant is for a free, one-year site license (value $599) providing unlimited access to all 35 (soon to be 45) Sylvan Dell eBooks, featuring flipviewer technology with selectable English and Spanish text and audio. The license can be used on all school computers and may be placed on secure school websites, enabling students and their families to login and have access from their homes. Each science, math, or nature themed picturebook includes a "For Creative Minds" educational section. Teaching activities and interactive quizzes are available free online.

The National Education Association offers grants to public education teachers and support staff to participate in high-quality professional-development experiences. Grant funds may be used for fees, travel expenses, books, or other materials that enable applicants to learn subject matter, instructional approaches, and skills. The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study. Applications are reviewed three times per year.

4imprint is now accepting applications for its 2009 one-by-one charitable giving program. The online and catalog promotional products retailer will award a $500 in-kind grant every business day of 2009 to a charitable organization in the United States or Canada.

Environmental Education Centers may be eligible for a grant from The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). (Federal Agencies and for-profit institutions are not elegible.) The Institute's mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas. The Institute works at the national level and in coordination with state and local organizations to sustain heritage, culture, and knowledge; enhance learning and innovation; and support professional development.

The National Geographic Society's Young Explorers Grants offer opportunities to individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 to pursue research, exploration, and conservation-related projects consistent with National Geographic's existing grant programs, including the Committee for Research and Exploration, the Expeditions Council, and the Conservation Trust. The grant program accepts applications throughout the year.

The Braitmayer Foundation funds a broad range of K-12 education programs, with particular interest in curricular reform initiatives and professional development opportunities for teachers. Grants for up to $10,000 and $35,000 are available. Deadlines are June 1st and November 15th annually.

The David, Helen and Marian Woodward Fund makes grants to qualified 501(c)(3) institutions, corporations and associations located in Georgia or one of its neighboring states that are organized and operated exclusively for religious, educational and charitable and scientific purposes. Requests must be postmarked by May 1 and November 1 respectively in order to be considered.

Dollar General provides community grants in these various areas: Adult Literacy, Back-to-School Grant, Beyond Words: The Dollar General School Library Relief Program, Family Literacy Grants, and Youth Literacy Grants.

For more than a decade, NWF's Campus Ecology program has been helping transform the nation's college campuses into living models of an ecologically sustainable society, and training a new generation of environmental leaders. Campus Ecology Fellowships are be awarded to college undergraduate and graduate students who desire to help reverse global warming on campus and beyond. The maximum grant request is $3,000.

The Captain Planet Foundation provides grants of up to $2,500 to school and community groups to support hands-on environmental projects. You can submit a proposal at any time during the year. However, proposals will only be reviewed the last day of March, June, September, and December.

Digital Wish offers 43 different grants for digital camera hardware and software for your classroom. To apply, register your classroom at Digital Wish and enter a lesson plan. All teachers who submit a lesson plan on Digital Wish will be automatically entered to win a Mobile Digital Camera Lab plus as many as 43 technology grants. Grants will be awarded on the 28th of every calendar month.

Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000. Community improvement projects and K-12 Public School Initiatives are primary philanthropic focus areas.

Toshiba America grants up to $5,000 for 7th-12th grade teachers and up to $1,000 for K-6th grade teachers for enhancement in science and math education. K–6th grade program grants are due October 1. 7th - 12th grade program grants are due February 1 and August 1.

America the Beautiful Fund is offering grants of FREE SEEDS (shipping and handling costs apply) for community and school planting projects. Available while supplies last.

Pay it Forward Foundation offers minigrants (from $50 to $500) to fund service-oriented projects designed by youth to support their school, neighborhood, or greater community. Application deadlines are January 15, April 15 and October 15 of each year.

The American Honda Foundation makes grants to K–12 schools, colleges, universities, trade schools, and others for programs that benefit youth and scientific education. The average grant range is $20,000 to $60,000. Grants are awarded on a quarterly schedule.
